Essential Oil - Bay

OUT OF STOCK - DO NOT ORDER!Botanical name: Laurus nobilis Color: Clear to pale yellow/green Consistency: Thin Perfumery note: Middle Related Planets/Deities: Sun Aroma: Powerful, spicy-medicinal odor, just like the Bay leaves used in cooking. Energetic Properties: Visionary, energizing, purifying, changing. Aromatherapy Properties: Bay oil is a dark yellow mobile liquid with a fresh-spicy top note and a sweet balsamic undertone. It blends well with lavender, rosemary, geranium, ylang-ylang, citrus and spice oils. The scent of bay oil is often considered a particularly masculine aroma by itself, but it is generally blended with other pure essential oils to create an aromatic synergy. Although its scent is not reminiscent of the commonly used bayberry fragrance, it is employed in many men's colognes. Spiritual Uses: Bay is wonderful for those seeking prophetic, spiritual visions and was used by Delphic priestesses for trance induction. Bay is also traditionally associated with magickal protection, and has been used to invite success in material matters. Blends well with: Pine, Cypress, Juniper Berry, and Lavender. Frankincense and Clary Sage are good partners with Bay oil in a spiritual/meditative blend. Before study, combine Bay with Rosemary oil for a high-powered focus blend. Citrus and spice oils also work well. Bay oil can easily overpower other scents, and too much can induce drowsiness, so it is best used sparingly. History: Cultivated and used throughout recorded history, the Bay laurel likely originated in Asia and spread from there to the Mediterranean. The academic title baccalaureate comes from the historic use of Bay Laurels to crown Greek scholars. It was also used to adorn the victors of battles in ancient Greece and Rome. The priestesses of Delphi sat over the fumes of smoldering bay leaves to increase prophetic visions. Bay leaves are still commonly used as a flavoring in pickles, sauces, soups, and other dishes. This product is sold for aromatherapy purposes onlyPerfect for use with our Ceramic Oil Burners as well.
