Alpine Tumeric Whole (Curcuma)

This is authentic Alpine Tumeric. Reportedly, it's not often used alone, but combined with Galanga (Alpinia galanga). According to ancient scriptures, combining the roots with those of Wild Alpine Turmeric (not to be confused with the common spice, Turmeric) may have represented the perfect balance of yin and yang energies.
When burned as an incense, this combination (or Wild Galanga by itself) is thought to produce an energized atmosphere. Many Tibetan incense formulas still use Galanga, especially in formulas for creating a pleasant atmosphere for contemplation.
Another interesting aspect of this root is that in making a tea, it can be re-used several times. Simply boil 1 oz of the root in 3 cups of water for 5 minutes and then remove the rhizome and let it dry for repeated use.
