Plato's NDE Account

The oldest surviving explicit reports of a near-death experience in Western literature is Plato's legend of Er, a soldier who awoke on his funeral pyre. But this story is not just a random anecdote for Plato. He integrated at least three elements of the near-death experience into his philosophy: the departure of the soul from the cave of shadows to see the light of truth, the flight of the soul to a vision of pure celestial being and its subsequent recollection of the vision of light, which is the very purpose of philosophy.

I sporadically work with Salvia, and have been doing so for about a year. Prior to using, I tried to read as much as I could. I'm native american, and consider Salvia divinorum to be a 'sacred herb' and treat her as such. I only use in a ceremonial context; generally alone, though on occasion with others

I was lying down in bed, relaxing/ meditating trying to shut out the noises from the cars, taking a break in the middle of the workday essentially...I got into a very relaxed state, and pulled the comforter over me.....I looked at the alarm clock and fell asleep, all of a sudden I felt like I was having a dream within a dream is the best way to explain it. |
