Sassafras Leaves

Sassafras has a long history of shamanic and folk herbal use. It was widely employed by many native North American Indian tribes who used it to treat a wide range of complaints, valuing it especially for its stimulating tonic effect upon the body. It is still commonly used in herbalism and as a domestic remedy and was most-often used root beer. But, since the FDA now bans the sale of sassafras root and oil due to its use in the clandestine drug industry, we only sell the young shoots and leaves.Tea from Sassafras was thought to be a cure-all at one time and was taken as a tonic and stimulant. A tea can be made out of the young leaves of Sassafras by boiling the roots for about 10 minutes. Sweeten with honey or sugar. WARNING: Sassafras can induce vomiting, stupor and hallucinations if drunk in excess. This is a powerful and sacred medicine that comes from the American Indian legacy of using herbs to detox the body and mind. Please use with caution.
