With our continual search for new, forgotten, or little-known botanicals and entheogens, there are two that we have recently encountered that have us, at the moment, quite excited. With new contacts in the Himalayas, and with the few reamaining Shaman coming down from the mountains to join the “default” world, we feel that our research has become even more imperative and necessary. The approximately 10,000 people who live in the mid slopes of the Eastern Himalayas are primarily of the Adi, Buddhist and Mishmi tribes with ten sub tribes, the oldest known lineage of humans in the Northern Hemisphere. It is from their remarkable storehouse of knowledge that we have gained knowledge of the mystical herb called â??the blooms of rocksâ? and the “Shaman Rattle Root”.
The Rock Blooms (now available on the website) are usually ground into a smooth paste with hemp seeds, crushed with catnip, sage and rhodolia or just smoked as is. As a result, this ancient herb reportedly creates a deep sense of relaxation and well being while enhancing vision and relieving depression. When it wasn’t illegal to mix this with crushed ipomea seeds, it reportedly makes the deeply meditative and insightful states of parmotrema more accessible, and activates the centered and inward focus of the meditation.
The second plant; the Shaman’s Rattle Root, we are still researching and will hopefully have for you in Early 2007. This plant has multiple meditative uses, and is one of the most unique plants we have ever researched. It is a root, that when dried, looks like a long pieve of bamboo, but chocolate brown in color, with seeds inside that are not only useful for helping the Shaman enter states of heightened awareness, the root itself is used as a musical instrument when these states of deep contemplation are being entered into. More info as soon as we have it. - Sarva Shanti, Bodhi
